Ablation number 3 is 8 days away.

Pre op is tomorrow so I'm having a day trip to Manchester. This'll be my 3rd ablation and my first one since Christmas 2014.

I didn't know my partner back then, but she's bricking it more than I am. It's been weird trying to explain it to her and her family and how it's not "a big deal" even though at the back of my mind getting stabbed in the crotch and internally burnt by a wire sounds like it.

It's difficult with the new baby, she's getting her sister to look after number 1 child, and coming up with me for day of operation with new baby.... we're staying at my parents (we live in Derbyshire) and checking I'm alright on day of op before going home. I will have a few days rest at my mums and follow on towards the end of the week.

Nearly 3 years seems like such a long time but I can vaguely remember the previous occasions of medazolane, fem block, bleeding out the crotch, 18 hours bed rest.....

Any advice for my other half or myself to make it a bit easier on her/us/both?

I believe that careful preparation is important and you seem to have planned it all. Worrying solves nothing. You have to go with the flow and stay calm. Dr Gupta's video, posted to-day, is worth watching.

Very best wishes for a successful outcome.

I think things are much worse for our families who see us daily, jedi. We know we aren't in mortal danger but it must look frightening to see your other half struggling to breathe and talk at the same time.

As your organisation sounds great, a large cause of worry should be removed, allowing you both to concentrate on putting your trust in your medical team. Remind your partner (and yourself!) that you've been through it all before but do remember that you will have to relax and rely on others for a while afterwards.

Very best wishes and fingers crossed for this one.
