Not read it before, but it's interesting, although I do not need one at the moment,it is something else I now have a bit of knowledge about should the need arise.

Very interesting, thank you. My father died of emphysema, AF and HF, he asked if a pacemaker would help but was told not, don't know why. I sometimes wonder if his life would have been longer and better if he had had access to today's medicine.

Sorry to hear about your Father. My Mother died from undiagnosed HF. Pacemakers have been around since the 50's but the more I read about this dual chamber pacing technology the more I'm convinced of it's life changing impact to people like me who have heart damage, in my case cardiomyopathy. It seams that every year we are getting cleverer and more inventive when it comes to HF solutions - which gives me a lot of hope for the future.

Thank you for posting this. Wonderful progress but, oh!!!!!! THE COST !!!!!'

I was told that to be cardioverted was £1500.00 (staff time, drugs, kit, bed etc). I have been cardioverted 9 times now and have been on various drugs (not sure of cost) for 2 years. Currently, I'm too weak to work, so no income tax. A one off £25k cost which will keep me going for next 25 years....... is still really expensive........ but I am worth it!

Interesting, just what I needed to read x

Hi Jollies,

Like you, I had a failed PVA and couldn't stay in NSR for more than 2 weeks. I was put on Amiodarone but my AF broke through that in less than 3 weeks. For me, there are no more drugs and they are unwilling to try anymore Ablations and CRT appears to be the only way forward. My CRT journey has not been hassle free and currently one of my CRT leads has an issue and it will be a further 6 weeks before I see the EP.

Hope you have better luck whatever route you choose.

Thank you. I was going to take these details and see what my ep says. At least it is another avenue to explore x
