Good news and bad news......

Well the good news is I was able to wear my nail varnish when I had my cardioversion. A rather daring shade of red ( sorry Bob no pink here!) Bad news is cardioversion was unsuccessful (again) My heart will convert back into nsr, but will only stay there for about 2 mins. Now waiting to see what my ep advises. Either load with amiodarone and try the zapping again ( this lasted for 3 weeks last time) or pacemaker?

Sorry it wasn't what you wished for - disappointing indeed.

Love your spirit with the fiery manicure!

I don't know if a pacemaker will help. My one was fitted in July 2015 and I'm still in permanent AF all be it with a lower heart rate showing on my BP monitor though the pacemaker clinic tell me that I still get as high as140 bpm at times.

Hi seasider,

A Pacemaker won't stop AF. The PM only controls your ventricular rate, i.e. your pulse rate. Depending on which type of PM you have, it may also control your high rate bpm. If mine detects my short bursts of v-tach it increases my rate even higher and then brings it back down to where it should be, around 70, depending on what I am doing.

Walter.
