I thought I’d share the view from the park across the road from our place. I’m blessed to be able to go walking by the water. It’s very calming and I have plenty of time to think and reflect.
Over the past week I’ve had a lot of pain in my back and chest which I’m pretty sure is nerve pain as I’ve had electrical/burning/cold feelings as well. It’s the same symptoms I had when I was diagnosed with Shingles and subsequently postherpetic neuralgia in April after my major flutter episode and cardioversion. I’m still on nightly drugs for the nerve pain which helps me sleep (but doesn’t seem effective anymore during the day).
Thinking back to how I was in April and how I am now, I’m wondering if the general anaesthetics I had in April for the cardioversion and 9 days ago for my ablation (which didn’t end up happening because of the blood clot they found) could have upset my nervous system and triggered the nerve pain. I hadn’t thought about this when I was readmitted to hospital on Monday with pain and unstable blood pressure so I haven’t asked my cardiologist yet. I mentioned my shingles and neuralgia to the anesthetist prior to heading into the cath lab but she didn’t think it would be an issue. I’m seeing my GP on Tuesday so I’ll ask her but I thought I’d see if anyone (I know we have a few former nurses on here) had any insights or had experienced any unusual reactions to anaesthetics.
