Hi. Two weeks after cardiac ablation for AF, I still have a bruise on one of my legs about 4" by 8"and leg is extremely painful especially when laying down. Is this normal?

Cardiac ablation for AF
Not unusual . Mine didn't hurt much but was like a Jackson Pollock painting from groin to knee for ages.
Speak to your arrhythmia nurse if you are worried.
Despite having bruising, I can't recall having any pain at all in my leg after any of my three ablations. As the pain you are getting is extreme I would make an appointment to see your GP, just to put your mind at rest.

If one has concerns, it is best, surely, to have something that may not be serious checked out, rather than assuming that something which might be significant is OK.
Hi I had severe bruising after first ablation and losts of pain went to A&E and was told I had a small haematoma which was no cause for concern! bruising and pain took ages to fade but second ablation last week had no bruising at all! Not sure why this happened but glad the second ablation was bruise and pain free as it just adds to the recovery time.
I had severe pain in my right groin area after last ablation and was taken to A & E as I couldn't even stand up. They thought it was an infection but turned out to be some nerve damage as there is a nerve bundle very close to entry site apparently. It completely cleared up after a couple of weeks. I wish I could say it had been worth it but the ablation seems to have failed yet again. Wishing you all the very best with your outcome.
