Hi I have been taking Apixaban for 2 years now but have developed hip joint pain does anyone know if this could be caused by apixaban after this time
Joint pain : Hi I have been taking... - Atrial Fibrillati...
Joint pain
what makes you think it could be Apixiban?
Could it be arthritis or wear & tear?
Do you take statins?
Have you asked your GP to rule out other possible causes such as infection?
I have been on Apixaban for about 9 months & not noticed any side effects but I believe a few people here said they had some slight side effects - cannot remember if it was hip pain or more general.
I had gastric probs with other A/Cs.
I've been taking Apixaban for three and a half years without any problems or apparent side effects.
I think you need to talk to your GP to get a diagnosis.
It sounds like bursitis. Pop along to your GP and explain your symptoms. It's unusual for a drug that's been ok for so long to suddenly cause you problems. Let us know how you get on.
This could be so many things. I had joint pains and had bloods checked to make sure it wasn't my statins. It turned out to be a very low deficiency of vit D. My pains have gradually got better since taking a high dosage supplemental vit d3 over the last 3 months.
Best check with your GP.
I don't know if it is listed on the PIL but drugs.com have joint pain listed as a side effect.
