Kidney blood test?

Hi, I have been diagnosed with Parox AF for about 6 months now, and I'm taking Pradaxa. It suits me very well too, no problems. Does anyone know if I should have a kidney blood test every 6 months , Ive not been offered one, but I paid private and the specialist says I should have them? Just wondering if anyone has experience?

Thankyou.

My understanding is that your kidney function needs to be checked annually. I therefore have my check every August. No problems after 2 plus years.
