Antihistamine

Hi there, I am newbie to both the site and AF. I am on Apixaban 5mg twice a day and Flecainide 50mg twice a day. Could someone please advise me whether it is safe to take antihistamine for hay fever. Thank you

I take apixaban and diltiazem and my GP prescribes Loratadine for hay fever. Have been taking them for many years.

I have Cetirizine prescribed, was ok with Propafenone, don't know about Flecainide. A pharmacist could tell you.

Shouldn't be a problem. There were a couple of antihistamines that were taken off the market several years ago that were implicated in a rare arrhythmia, but drugs like cetirizine do not have arrythmias reported as a possible side effect

Even though others here I expressed a view if I were in your situation I'd ask a pharmacist. Better to have a professional opinion, I think.

I,m on Flecainide and Diltiazem and I regularly take cetirizine and fexofenadine for allergy's without any problems (sort of ) c-zine makes me sleepy so if I need another histamine the next day I take fexo as its non drowsy - but too many of it keeps me awake at night !

Yes, I also took Loratadine - turned out I didn't have hay fever so it didn't help but I had no bad reaction.

Cetirizine has always been fine for me, on a regular basis. I've been on Warfarin - now on Rivaroxaban and Bisoprolol. Check with your GP....I'm sure there won't be a problem.

I take Loratidine as it is a non drowsy antihistamine. I am on 100mg Flecainide twice a day and Dabigatran 150mg twice a day and was told by my doctor that Loratidine is safe to take with these.

I use cetirizine with no problem found in a couple of years use.
