Trying to help my mom with post stroke pains (stroke caused by AFIB) with Arnica Montana and wondering if there is an interaction between these two. Somewhere I read that arnica has also blood thinning properties and may cause troubles. Thank you!!!

Arnica Montana and Eliquis or blood thinners?

I am not a herbalist nor medically trained so you really should consult someone qualified for advice, especially as you are treating another, please check with her doctor.
I assume you are using gel or cream and used in this way, for occasional injuries, I cannot see why it would cause a problem - I certainly used it on soft tissue injury whilst taking anti-coagulants with no problems. My understanding is that it can cause pain for some people when used daily over a period of time.
I would think it could be a problem if taken orally, which would only be advisable under medical supervision.

Hi Alizuna
I am not medically qualified, but a simple Google search says that Arnica Montana (woflbane to us Europeans) will potentially interfere with an anti coagulant.
Be very careful and preferably seek medical or pharmaceutical advice before using any herbal medicines or treatments, but especially those which are known to interact as this one does.
By the way NONE of them "thin the blood" and therefore are not blood thinners, they are anti coagulants, they stop the blood coagulating, they do not change the viscosity of the blood at all. That is changed by temperature, hydration, diet and many other things, but NOT an anti-coagulant.
Be well

I was going to use Arnica to reduce bruising swelling after an operation but the nurse said not to as it thins the blood. Considering that most doctors say that homeopathic remedies are no better than 'spit' I was surprised.
At the moment I and taking Rhus Tox tablets and using Rhus Tox cream for hip pain.
That was my concern as well as both are anti coagulants as Beancounter mentioned above but homeopathic version is safe. Not sure what version you wanted to use but the pellets by Boiron are safe to take. I'm going to another doctor today and will ask the same question, and let you know as well.
