YES. It seems to be the beta blocker that does this to me, I noticed it the very first time I took Metoprolol. A very strange burning sensation, not really pain exactly... but like my skin was on fire. Very irritating . For me, it happens in my head/neck/arms. Sometimes in my back/torso, rarely in my legs. I found that with time on the drug it got much better, I hardly get it at all anymore. I say for me it seemed to be beta blockers in general, as when I switched to Bisoprolol, it happened again, but again once my body got used to the dose it seemed to subside. The Drs I told about this, I think thought I was mad, as they had never heard of that before, lol.
My experience is that it will pass, but definitely check with your Dr or pharmacist- often pharmacists Are the best source.
I have wondered myself if my aches and pains were down to the bisoprolol and apixaban. I was diagnosed initially about the same time but still awaiting an echo and results of a hospital ecg to confirm or otherwise. The bisoprolol initially gave me nightmares too but I feel that it is the culprit of the aching legs shoulders and joints in general. I suppose we need to be patient but check with our doctors if it doesn't resolve.
Thanks for your replies , and to jfib , I have had the same response from my doctors too. Raised eyebrows, looks of distain , and the response that this is not a side effect of the tablets, and a complete unwillingness to read the leaflet that comes with the tablets that says clearly that these are some of the side effects. I also have itching burning in my eyes ,especially on the left hand side of my face accompanied by a cold, numb feeling. This symptom was again dismissed as not related to the tablet.
It's good to know that there are others out there with these symptoms, although I don't wish them on anyone, because when speaking to my doctors they make me feel as though the aches a pains, and other things are figments of my imagination!!
I intend to ask the pharmacist as you have all suggested
I was put on Apixaban and Bisoplorol, could NOT take the Bisoplorol couldn't walk..talk..pain's in my chest I'd never felt as ill..i stop taking the bisoplorol and had to wait till feb 14th that's when I had an appointment at the hospital...the doctors has now put me on Slozem..and up to now only on day four off the tablet but a lot better then beta blockers I was given
Hope you don't mind me asking but did you stop taking the Bisoprolol of your own accord or did your GP take you off them and were you referred back to the Cardiac team in your hospital
