I was prescribed Bisoprolol for AF and long standing hypertension and over three years have put on three stone.when I made a determined effort to lose some weight by smaller portion size I lost seven pounds over three weeks but my INR number went haywire and I had to increase my dose of Warfarin
Weight gain: I was prescribed... - Atrial Fibrillati...
Weight gain
I decided to try the no-added-sugar diet before my ablation. My INR nose-dived from a steady 2.5 to 1.3. I was accused of not taking the warfarin.
I am now on Pradaxa and am liberated!
This is the 2nd post of the day about weight gain and beta blockers.
I am on 10mg of bisoprolol and have put on 4kg in 3years despite being careful what I eat most of the time I don't feel like eating at all
I've managed to lose four stone in the past year and a bit, and I'm on Bisoprolol. I joined Slimming World - sometimes it's hard to see where you're going wrong if you're doing it by yourself... My INR dipped as well though, have had to increase the warfarin (no alternative in Wales, or at least that's what the surgery says). It's a pain but worth it.
I wasn't aware that reducing the sugar in your diet could affect your INR, is there any information about this phenomenon or is it something only known by Warfarin takers? I take Warfarin and Bisprolol as well as Ramapril and antidepressants and others. I would be interested to hear about anyone who has information. Thankyou 😁
weight gain or weight loss is a listed side effect of Bisoprolol but however you lose added weight it seems to affect your INR therefore your dose of Warfarin has to be adjusted.
