Has anyone found drinking beer in moderation is fine for us AFers? I seem to be ok with it - 3 pints or 4 bottles - given the water content seems that it can actually provide some hydration!

Minimal affect to hydration levels. Only water on its own (or not tea, coffee, squash, etc) counts / is effective. Negative effect because of alcohol which far exceeds positive effects.

Alcohol is a diuretic so beer has a negative affect on hydration. Your proposal exceeds UKGov daily guide lines anyway and would put me out cold. You pays your money and your makes your choice but don't kid yourself.

The effects of dehydration after alcohol is one of the triggers for my AF.  If I'm planning on enjoying a few beers in the sunshine I make sure I drink plenty of water too and I find it does the trick.  Maybe a few more trips to the loo than usual, but a better side effect than AF.

Hi Kbuck, I enjoy a few beers  (especially in Aussie summers) with no adverse effects - so enjoy your ales. Cheers.  :)

An hour or so after drinking just 1 pint of beer often set my AF off. Haven't had a beer since before Christmas time. I don't want to risk it at the moment. Might try Jason's trick of plenty of water with it one day!

Try it. If it affects you act accordingly.

I have the occasional 3 or 4 pints and I'm still here.

Don,t listen to to the killjoys. If you can't have some fun and relaxation you might as well be dead.

I drink most days but realise that it can bring on an episode. If i stick to 3 pints and a glass of wine i am ok and sometimes even more on a weekend usually without effect. If af does come on i just sit the day out and wait for it to pass, usually 12 hours. I realise some people will think this is a lot but to my friends i am a lightweight!!

Got to have a bit of pleasure in life, I have AF but had a hard day at work so just having a can of beer now and will go mad and have another in half an hour, as long as you don't over do it a couple of cans is ok for me. cheers

Very cold beer can set me off right away - with AF alcohol is a bit of a no no.
