Hey all hope everyone is doing well. I developed a sinus infection and although I'm still in nsr my heart will not go under 100s no matter what I do I've been taking my metropolol even my doctor told me to increase it a little but still in the 100-120 has anyone of you experience this while fighting an infection ??

I think any infection makes the heart work harder and in some cases e g lung infections can bring on AF. Weather the storm for now and see what happens when the infection is over. Although not very pleasant that rate is not  dangerous for now.

Sinusitis.....bah!  This blasted infection prevented me from having my ablation on Monday.

It was working on me the week before and, in a fuzzy state,  I thought I had mixed up my warfarin dose. Whatever, my inr shot up and they sent me home from the hospital at lunchtime. I had been prepped for the procedure but, of course, it was not safe to go ahead.  There is no doubt that a virus... such as sinusitis.... will affect your heart rhythm and it does affect inr levels as well.  The problem with sinusitis, as opposed to a cold, is that it hangs around longer and sometimes requires antibiotics..... which again can affect your inr levels. Only solution is to rest, rest, rest...so get the family to spoil you this weekend, Jmommy!

Thanks yea this infection really sucks especially since I keep having fevers too. I was prescribed antibiotics I'm just praying that I keep in nsr since I had an ablation 6 weeks ago.

Be sure you're not taking some sort of ephedrine medication, even OTC, for stuffiness. That can work like caffeine for heart rate.

I have a lung 'weaknes' which leaves me prone to chest infections on a fairly regular basis. It's about the only trigger I have identified which brings on AF - and no always either. I take motoprolol too, in fact apart from sotalol it's the only beta blocker I've every used or been offered. If I get AF I immediately take an extra 25 mg to help bring the heart rate down as I am well within the prescribed limits. I don't think it particularly helps restore NSR which always seems a pretty random event - much like the onset of AF.

Good luck and take care.

Yea last night I took half a pill more of the metropolol and finally was able to get my heart rate down to the 80s just glad it's still in nsr hope it stays that way why I fight this infection.
