Well, after 15 months of afib-free bliss following first ablation, I started getting the old "flutters" back just before Christmas. This time, however, much milder and easily controlled with flecanaide, thank goodness. This took care of things until my regularly scheduled visit with my EP. He said I could continue, as is, or go for a "cleanup" ablation that is often necessary to re-zap areas where connections may have regrown over previous scar tissue, so likely no new areas (that was my concern since he'd already done six on the first go-round). It was my inclination to just let the flecainide do the job for awhile, but because the minimal dose of 50mg x daily likely won't continue to be enough for long, and the stuff makes me so sleepy, AND I don't want heart complications when I go for knee replacement this spring, it seemed like a good idea to agree to second ablation. Coming up the 25th. Fingers crossed for as perfect an outcome as the first!

Yes that all sounds sensible and so lucky to get such an early date. I am still waiting for my second ablation. Its 4 months now even though the consultant said it would be quicker this time. Oh well, it will come round eventually i guess!

Yes. Thanks dedeottie. I'm in the U.S., so that makes a difference I'm sure. Best wishes on your outcome.
