Hi. Is your heart rate regular at 116 or is it irregular? If it is regular, it may be an SVT that is not AF. Ignore the Bfx measurement. It means nothing to your EP...it is an AliveCor invention to make us crazy. What is your plan with your EP...do you go to get treatment with episodes or ride it out at home?

If this is something new that has never happened before I would at least put in a call to the doc on call in your EP practice and ask if they want you to be seen in the ER. Are you on an anticoagulant?

Ok, well, if you develop any new shortness of breath or chest pain with it, then do go straight to A & E no matter what the time.

The fact it has gone back to 54 may suggest the PIP is working , but that instead of a PIP you should be on regular Flecanaide to prevent AF kicking off - you should ask your doctor about this to see if that will help.

Don't be sorry about posting here. Everyone will support you. I hope you're feeling better and that you got some sleep. It's possible that you AF went by itself and that your anxiety was keeping your HR higher than you'd expect. Have a chat with your GP this morning, and if you're ever in doubt go to A&E.

Ho boo hey if your pulse has dropped to 116 BPM it could mean your in NSR. Check your pulse the Carotid in your neck you will be able to see if it's skipping a beat or not that's usually a sign your in AF. Let's know. Rob Australia. Xxx

Hope you are well this morning? I have to say having just read this thread I am so touched with the response from such lovely people any time of day! especially as through the night is when we tend to feel at our worst and just need a bit of reassurance from a fellow AF sufferer, what a brilliant site this is!!

Hope everyone who posts here has a wonderful Christmas!

Hi Boo hope you had a reasonable night and can make some progress with the doctor today. Hx

Morning Sara.....hope you're feeling better this morning. Looking on the bright side, at least you are getting back into sinus without cardioversion.

You obviously need your drugs tweaking though so I hope you get some help soon

Boo . Do so hope you feel better and not alone. You can expect great moral support from the posts but call emergency if in doubt. I don't have your experience but just wanted to give support as I live on my own and know what it is like.

I often go from AF, irregular and about 140 to tachycardia, regular but fast (about 120). The tachycardia can last up to 8 hours and normally needs some sort of movement eg going to the loo or walking around before it goes back to NSR. This is still upsetting but much better than when I used to go from AF to SVT at 220. Hope you feel better today and get some advice. xxxx

Bx is that fluttery feeling in between each beat i think as whenever mine was high on alivecor i could feel that fluttery feeling lol, u could well be converting back but your heart rate is too high still, needs to be lot lower at least under a 100 bpm i reakon, probably just need to adjust ya meds now, i would of thought that is a good sign your comming out of AF!

Bx as Grandma states is an Alivecor invention which is supposed to measure the speed at which rate is changing. They have already apologised for including it and stated that it will be removed at the next update.

I take metropolol to control rate. Some side effects but no racing heart. Maybe a low dose of something like that would help you!!! I am grateful for this generous group who have helped me so much. I am sure no one minds lots of requests for help!

So sorry you are having so much bother. I do hope things will improve rapidly for you. Every bad time we have is something to learn from and the more AF we have the better we get to know what works (or doesn't) for us. Hard lessons though.

So sorry to hear of your problems. I have experienced all that you are now suffering. Your Doctor and Cardiologist will reassure you, When my heart rate suddenly increased (usually at rest ,or sleeping)-it was either PSVT or A/F. PSVT is very fast ,but regular..... A/F is very fast ,but irregular. I waited for about 45minutes to let it settle down again... go back to Sinus Rhythm. In most episodes, it would revert back automatically? After 45 minutes, if it continued I would seek help. If you are experiencing chest ache or pressure , do not wait ... seek help immediately. This is a precautionary measure and requires a medical check up. This is a very common condition and can be sorted out by your Doctors. The Paramedic Ambulance crew will soon determine what is happening and record vital information for your Doctor or Cardiologist to examine. IF IN DOUBT _CALL THEM OUT!

Hi booboo, just understand that you have a horrible condition which can revert to "normal" at any time and make you feel like a fraud. Always ring 111 if in doubt and they will make the decision for you, which is invariably go to A&E. Get a copy of the ECG for your EP. This will be helpful.

A fast heart beat rate can be caused by anxiety alone, learning to relax is a good start. I have been advised that 120 bpm is not a worry unless it is at rest and keeps beating fast for a longish time. I had beats of up to 200 bpm but it was "Paroxysmal", meaning for a short time. I also had missed beats for years and was told that it was not a worry. I was tested on a 24 hour halter monitor four times with no Atrial Flutter or Atrial Fibrillation detected. Eventually I had a five day halter monitior and both flutter and fibrillation were found. I had an ablation and, except in the first few weeks after, have had no real problems. Occasionally I feel a little flutter but no sooner have I felt it, it stops. If you are going to check yourself, please always take a note of how fast, how long a period and if it feels regular or not, this will help your GP.. Next time you experience a fast heart rate get some urgent advice, you can ring 111 and tell them all your symptoms, this is really important if you experience shortness of breath and/or pain along with your fast heart rate, they will advise you what to do, good luck, I hope that you get all your answers soon.

When I was in AF I would usually feel a flutter-like sensation in my neck as the first sign. While in extended AF, more than a few seconds to minutes, I would feel tired and short of breath. Would return to normal within anywhere from 30 minutes to a couple of hours. The one time I went to the hospital ER it lasted for about 12 hours.

I hope you'll let us know what your doctor advised.
