Morning everyone. Finally taken the plunge and had my first 1.25mg bisopralol about half an hour ago.

Feeling quite nervous but fingers crossed it starts making me feel better and stops my feeling so light headed and dizzy from my fast heart rate. Hope you all, have a good day😊

1.25 is the very lowest dose. I am on 2.5 which reduces my heart rate from 80 to 65. My EP indicated that in addition to affecting the heart rate bisoprolol also helps with fibrillation.

It doesn't suit everyone. Many complain about tiredness and breathlessness. I was once on a 10 dose and I was breathless. This is supposed to be the highest daily dose but a recent post on this site was about someone taking more than this. A blind friend of mine is on 15. I asked her to query this with her GP. She confirmed that it was correct, 10 in the morning and 5 at night. Rather her than me!!!

I forgot to mention that when you eventually come off beta blockers you should do it slowly.

Hope I can eventually come off them but if they keep things in check I don't mind sticking with them. Do you know if it's safe to have a couple of glasses of wine. I have always done after my partner is settled. He has MND so takes the stress of the day away.

You must do what makes you happy and calm. I have not heard that a little wine is a problem - and you are on the absolute minimal dose if bisoprolol. Just check the leaflet with the packet for anything to avoid.

I have been on 10mg bisoprolol per day for 2years and have had no side effects

Hello Jennydog. I had been on 1.25mg of Bisoprolol for 2 years and stopped taking them 5 weeks ago. One side effect of Bisoprolol along with all beta blockers is a short lightheaded feeling when you stand up due to sudden drop in blood pressure.

I am on 3.75 (a 2.5 in the morning and 1.25 before bed), started quite recently. Fortunately, I have had no problems. I understand you can get nightmares. I got some strange dreams, but nothing worse. Be careful standing up, as they slightly lower blood pressure. My heart rate is now so low I like to pretend I am an olympic athlete at rest!

My second day on 1.25mg and heart rates gone down to low seventies. Better than 100 plus. Do feel a little light headed and dizzy plus some weird vivid images in my head before I dropped off last night. Slept till 7am. Usual anxiety that I'm hoping might lessen, but if not I might see if I can have my anxiety meds changed as been on them for some time now. All in all I'm so happy I found this site. The support has been amazing and made be bite the bullet taking the tablet.

Thank you so much every one of you.

Vicky 😊

As others have said you are on a low dose, but prior to my ablation I did find some real benefit from taking them. I actually think they can help a little with the anxiety ( not the prime reason to take them of course!) as lowering my heart rate a bit did have a calming effect for me anyway. I also suffer from ectopic beats and Bisopropol ( which I now use only as a pip) has definitely helped with them.
