I used to be able to terminate palpitations with breathing. Breathing in, breathing in again and a third time, holding and then exhaling slowly would work. I don't have the same success with AF.

If only. Valsava technique can help palpitations and tachycardia but AF--- unusual.

Tachycardia ? My heart does suddenly go fast for 6-8 beats and when I take deep breath it stops it's not irregular .

I have had persistent atrial fib. for a few years and discovered the 'deep breathe' trick a couple of years ago.Read about it somewhere and decided to 'give it a go'. It works well for me in relieving tension....or so I think.Anyway, I feel better doing it.
