Was the blood from your teeth or from your throat?

If you're unsure see your GP and get checked out.

I drink a pint of water every morning when I get up and always swirl the last bit around in my mouth and then spit in the sink. There's never any blood in it, but when I then do the same thing when I've finished cleaning my teeth, I often see a little blood. I'd say it's very likely that the blood you saw was from your teeth, but it might be worth doing what I do tomorrow morning to see if the blood is there before you brush your teeth.

See your dentist if the blood is from your gums, it is the first sign of gum disease which can be a sign of inflammation or a poor cleaning routine. You can usually tell the difference ie:- if it is only when you brush your teeth and it is only a tiny bit.

I am not sure a sore throat would cause bleeding, unless very bad tonsillitis, so if you are coughing up blood see you doctor ASAP especially if you are anticoagulated.

Let us know how you get on.

Oku...thanks

Are you on warfarin? Suggest seeing your doctor if you're at all worried.

Relax, people. A bit of blood in spit does not necessarily mean anything bad is happening. It could be from a lesion caused by the herpes virus (which causes cold sores and almost everyone has). It could due to any of a number of other benign causes. The best thing to do is observe: did it happen the next time you brushed your teeth? Did it happen at some other time? Is there a lot? A little? Does it happen after you cough or gargle?

Let's have some information before getting into inferences, conclusions, or advice.

Hi don't worry,it's pretty common I get it every now and then and have done for years,I think maybe I brush to hard, who knows, but if it's really bothering you ring the docs for reassurance.

If you have it when you brush your teeth it is because you have inflammation in your gums so you should see your dentist. It is not something to completely ignore.
