Follow up to my post about feeling good again after my CV.....

Four days in and when I woke this morning I didn't feel good. I didn't need to check my pulse but sure enough my AF is back to blight my life....Hell of a knock back, what to do??

If you can be cardioverted it does indicate that an ablation would have a good chance of working?

Sorry to hear this. I'm sure it's all too easy to feel very glum about it. But do drag up a bit of optimism because it would seem you have moved forwards in the last few days - two steps forward, only one back. Some CVs don't have any success, some only last a few hours. You've done better than that.

AF needs to be stamped on, so perhaps initiate the next step right away, keep the pressure on and move forwards.

Sorry to hear you are back in AF and can understand your disappointment and frustration. The fact that the Cardiversion was successful in putting you back into normal sinus rhythm is most probably a good indicator that an ablation may be a good option for you.

Keep focused on moving forward you will get there we all understand here what a nuisance AF is to say the least. Get an appointment with your EP and see what they suggest as a next step. All is not lost although it may feel like it to you at the minute.

Big cyber hug coming your way.

I feel your pain, mine (last Friday) lasted less than 24 hours.

Please don;t be glum as this proves that you can be converted back to NSR which means that the next step (ablation) has a good chance of success. Move forward and take the initiative.

So disappointing; I know the feeling. My first CV lasted about 10 months but the second one just before last Christmas only 8 days. The doctor gave me Amiodarone for a month and had another CV just over a week ago. Amiodarone can make them last longer though it's not a drug I'd like to take long term. So don't lose hope and, as others suggested, head back to the doctor and see what's possible.

How many CV work as the cure

My two attempts lasted 4 days

A friend of mine went into AF because of a fight and was kicked in the chest they converted him with drugs the same night

No probs since

His dad had it but an ablation fixed him

Hope you get the right Guideness

Good luck

I Feel for you as my CV lasted four months and went back into persistent AF just before a scheduled cardio appointment and he said he would send me for an EP appointment (in June) with a view to ablation. I think this should be your next step, at least it did work which is a good sign. Chin up!

all the best

Sorry to hear that and I know what a disappointment it is. That happened to me a month ago so fresh in my mind!!

I had an ablation (almost 6.5 hours) on 30 Mar and then just under 72 hours later felt unwell (late afternoon) and went back into persistent AF. He had said at the end of last year that he did not think there was any chance in my case that it would work first time.

Sent the AliveCor prints of morning (normal) and late afternoon (in AF) to EP consultant. He brought forward review appointment to yesterday an he told me he will put me back onto waiting list for a second ablation. That may get put back because of complication as I have moderate to severe leakage on tricuspid valve and the valve consultant (see next month) has to decide whether ablation or valve treatment is done next.

My view is go for the second one (but then I am biased as I made that decision months ago)!!!
