Back in sinus rhythm but still got AF symptoms

Hi everyone - my first post ...

I've had three cardioversions and was doing well until recently when I got palpitations and my legs gave way. The funny thing is that I'm back in sinus rhythm but now feel tired, breathless and on and off light-headed like I was before my cardioversions. I'm on flecanide and apixaban. Any suggestions what might be causing this? My heart doctor didn't have any solutions but said that he could refer me to a colleague to discuss a possible ablation. But what would be the point of ablation if I'm not in AF?

When PAF hits it can leave us feeling drained for days. However, if you continue feeling this way I would try and get an ECG carried out at your GP's surgery, or a monitor to wear to see if your heart is going into AF when you're not aware.

By the way, you don't have to be in constant AF in order to have an ablation.

One other question I need to ask is whether you've had a blood test to check your thyroid function? I was putting all my extreme tiredness down to AF, but I had an under-active thyroid.

Many thanks for your reply. I will ask my GP about a thyroid test - grateful for the tip.

I had a seven day monitor and was disappointed because I had not had a major episode of AF while wearing it but the report said I had frequent episodes which I hadn't noticed, maybe at night? So if I feel rubbish for no reason I suspect that's what is happening.

You don't have to be in AF to have an ablation. I am hoping to have another cardioversion in a week's time - would have been last Tuesday but cancelled as Doc ill. Still on list to have an ablation whether in AF at the time of the ablation or not.

Sorry to hear you had more palputations,i had these on and offfor many years.

learning from this forum ,i took magnsium suppliment and practiced slow deep breathing and exhaling ...not had a problem for many years now.

Learned to avoid exreme exersise, stress and too much alcohol all this helps as for apixaban,i understand this affects the platlets in blood like asprin i am only on a very low dose hope something here helps and you can overcome this
