Sorry I can't comment on dose as in UK sotalol is very seldom used.

Hi Karim - I'm sorry your cardioversion wasn't successful. Sotalol is often prescribed for atrial flutter and I took it for a short time recently, but for me Flecainide suits better.

Hope you soon find some medication to help.

I believe that a pulse rate between 60-100 is considered normal, but I would guess if you normally have a very low heart rate in the 50-60 range then for some people 100 could be thought of as high.

How are you getting on taking Sotalol and how are you feeling?

Karim. Jean is absolutely right. In my case HR was always circa 60. Before ablation and now it is typically in the 80s. For the 70 hours I was in NSR after my ablation HR was just over 60 (admittedly on 5mg Bisoprolol). As far as my baseline goes both EP and GP take it as 60. That's why GP was concerned when HR was over 130 because as she said that's over double and could be worse than a person whose HR is normally 100 but was running along at 170.
