You do have to notify DVLA but it usually no more than filling in a form.
Yes you do The confusion comes about because doctors are not required to report it but patiens are . You face a £1000 fine if you do not but form H1 is simple enough.

Sorry to barge in on this post but I didn't realise you had to report Paroxysmal AF only full blown AF. Would you need to let your insurance company know also?
....I haven't informed anyone official.... am I breaking the law? I'm taking relevant medication and feel fine. When I'm tired, im too tired to drive.
You have raised a very good point. Soon after I was first diagnosed with AF I looked on the DVLA website (part of Gov.UK ) and saw that AF was not listed so did not report. However I have looked through it all again (and used Wikipedia for definitions). Arrhythmia is listed for notification and looking at Wikipedia AF would fall under that classification. My belief is that using the definitions Paroxysmal AF does have to be reported as well as "full blown AF". No one has told me to report AF. I will email AFA as well.
I have just spoken to the DVLA and although they were very helpful even they were unclear about PAF. Their recommendation was to fill out the form anyway but to stress it is PAF and to follow the consultant/gp's advice re driving.
When I initially spoke with the DVLA I was told that any medical condition which may affect your ability to drive had to be reported, and they sent me a simple form to complete. All was OK for me to carry on driving. I also spoke with my insurance company and they also said they required notification of all medical conditions and/or changes to the conditions. Failure to notify them may negate the insurance.
