180 BPM from anxiety(goes up and down )???? Is possible? Had 2 cardiac ablation's haven't had svt since .
Normal or abnormal???: 180 BPM from... - Atrial Fibrillati...
Normal or abnormal???
I don't really know, but imagine it is possible but unlikely to stay there for any length of time ie longer than 20 mins, if it is purely fight / flight fright,
Chronic anxiety - possibly - but I would have thought unlikely.
? What makes you think it is anxiety?
? How long does it last?
Cdreamer it does not stay there it as soon as I panic cause of traffic or whatever the stressful even may be I check my BPM and I've seen it up as high as 185 but it doesn't stay there it has stayed at 130 drop down and go back up and down. I called paramedics and they say its fast but in sinus rhythm but not high enough for meds but it goes down completly when I calm down. As with svt if it was at 180 it would stay there and happen for nothing
Sounds as though whatever your HB does it is certainly made worse or triggered by anxiety, Anxiety is physiological, not psychological so it could be that you receive a message from your heart in your brain which triggers an event. If you then become conscious of the alert you go into panic mode - what's happening to me etc etc and then worry because you don't know, which then becomes cyclical.
You become used to being on constant alert, waiting for something and being hyper vigilant.
It is good to always get these things checked out, assuming there is nothing that requires medical attention the next is to find strategies to help you to cope and manage these incidents better so that you learn how to calm yourself.
You may have to try several things before you find something that works for you. Mindfulness, meditation, hypnotherapy, CBT, relaxation techniques, EFT or 'tapping', exercise, yoga etc etc. Anything that makes you feel good, if your body feels good, your mind calms and the cycle reverses.
You may need help to find something, light, therapeutic massage I found a good place to start.
Hope you find something because you need to get on with living your life rather than worrying about what your heart is doing as it can become a bit obsessive and that will not help you.
I found that developing a plan as to when to worry and call for help and when to calm myself helped enormously, I developed parameters with my doc, if my pulse exceeded 200, if my BP dropped, if my pulse went high and then dropped etc, etc.
Always the proviso that you need to ensure that there is really nothing immediately life threatening that does require immediate, medical attention.
Very best wishes CD
180 bpm is abnormal by most standards, certainly from just anxiety. Get it checked soonest, If it`s a regular beat, how do you know it isn`t svt? I had 2 ablations for a. flutter but neither of them worked. You may need further treatment. Don`t worry, it`s not life threatening, but get it checked as soon as possible.
YeahWilen the fist ablation my ep was successful and I think it was but he went in for the second cause my BPM would go up to 180 and back down same thing as now and he couldn't find anything else wrong I've had echocardiagram angiogram just a lot of test all normal he had me wear a holter monitor for 2 w eeksgavent heard anything back yet
If these bouts of 180bpm suddenly start then suddenly stop after a while, it seems likely that it is atrial flutter or supraventricular tachycardia. If you had a bout of this while you had your monitor on, they will be able to tell you exactly what the problem is.
Keep us posted.

Caromia yeah its been s while a long while I've been great just a few humps and bumps along the way . hope your doing great and thank you
Hi, my sister suffers the same, one ablation done, and her daughter same, but both considering second ablation. They have A-fib triggered by all sorts, even though the ablation helped and their bpm can go from normal to 200+ on the turn of a hat. Usually, I think by stress but maybe some food types also. Myself it comes out in vasculitis as it did last night. Again stress was the cause. In my opinion, (I am not medical), you should consider avoiding all stress. Easier said than done. Really though, the ablation never seems to be 100% speaking to the four that I know or knew in person. D
