It seems that now my flutter is gone I have developed or may be reverted to paroxysmal fibrillation. I thought, or maybe hoped, that the palpitations I started getting after the ablation for flutter were just due to the healing process. I was wrong. I started taking flecainide again. 100 mg twice a day. This doesn't stop it starting up. But if I take 300 mg on onset it stops altogether. Is this a solution anyone else has arrived at? Or if not, any ideas for a way forward?
Life after ablation for atrial flutte... - Atrial Fibrillati...
Life after ablation for atrial flutter, now need to control the emergent fibrillation, any suggestions for best way forward to try please ..
I needed 3 ablations to get things under control. Last December was last one. Still get some short and occassional flutter but very liveable. Give it six months and then make a decision if another ablation is needed. Still on 50mg of metropohlol daily.
Hi,
I agree with Ryan. Now fourteen weeks post Ablation at Liverpool .Next review being in March ...Still get flutters almost daily but reassured by EP that it takes all of six months if not longer for heart to fully recover from trauma of Ablation....
I am not overly concerned at the moment....Using Flex as a "pill in pocket" also....
Take care,
Carol....
Thanks Carol & Ryan. I will continue with the flecainide as a 'pill in the pocket', as the preventative dose of 100mg twice a day is not preventing! I am 6 weeks post ablation now, so will give it 6 months to see if any improvement occurs on its own, I have a 6 month follow up booked. At the moment the attacks are twice a week or so and go on, if untreated for several hours, worse that the permanent flutter I had before ablation. I certainly feel better in between times though and especially for being off biosoprolol now. Many thanks for your comments.
