I’m on 180g slow release for, past 3 months i get swelling of lower legs, ankles and feet af nurse said that could be down to this or the heart not working correctly. I’m also on water tablets to combat the swelling which it doesn’t.
I like it though same problem as Jane, Dr wouldn't give me water tablets so I wear support socks, works well. Also watch your diet because like other tabs it slows everything down so you put on weight easily and can't lose it, best to prevent it!
I am on 90 mg prolonged release Diltaziam x2 a day. Definately slowed my hr down 80 bpm and no side effects so far! 🤞Also on 7.5 Bisoprolol, Spiro, ramapril. MRI scan at st barts next Thursday??
I was on 200mg mod release. Not good. Slight Breathlessness, exercise intolerance, poor memory brain fog, had slight ankle/ shim swelling I initially , but that went after a fewcweeks, and I sunburned very very easily whilst on it.
I think the sude effects were cumulatively getting worse the longer j took it.
I have been taking 120 mg of Diltiazam twice a day for the past 7 years. I have been able to tolerate this really well so unless it stops working then I hope my cardiologist will continue with this form of treatment. Stick with it if you can I think you will find it's worth it.
I was on 120mg 2x/day before my ablation in Jan of this year. The only negative affect was inability to get my heart rate above 110 during exercise. After my ablation we reduced the dose in half and now during exercise I can get my heart rate up to 150. The primary reason I have maintained the low dose is for my blood pressure.
I am interested to see you are taking diltiazem 3 times a day. Is it the slow release tablet or the immediate release. I started on 60 twice a day and went up to 90, 120 and then 180 twice a day and my heart rate is still not well controlled. After a few side effects at the beginning I have tolerated it well. Even at the higher doses.
