He puts a dye to see if there is any narrowing or blockage of the artery

They use what they call a trace, which is Iodine based and shows up dark on Xrays as a dark liquid when they inject it. It passes though and away after a short time. It Shows any blocked or narrow arteries.

I found I was allergic to Iodine after my first. This is extremely rare so I would not panic. It is just me I never seem to be normal with any of my conditions :)

Be Well

Seems like they did an angiogram at the same time to check your coronary arteries

Thank you that's weird they would check that I'm only 23

If it was an angiogram, it should have been explained clearly what it was and why they were doing it and any dangers there were. I feel very strongly about this as an old friend of mine recently died when she had one of these (in England).

Oh no I'm truely sorry about your friend :( yeah my ep study I was asked about some dye if I was allergic and stuff and I was wondering why and the nurse said she had to ask I didn't think anything of it then yesterday at my follow up it was mentioned again they did blood work to see if my kidneys have been flushed . just another question because like I read statistics a lot on the internet I'm just wondering how old was your Friend and did she pass during or after the procedure?? Again I'm sorry for your loss and thank you so much for your concern .

Take care lulu

if you are allergic to mussels then you maybe allergic to Iodine?

thanks. As I'm not in England I didn't get a lot of details about my friends death, she was 69 and in reasonable good health. Friends who went to the funeral said she had an heart attack during the exam (don't know at what part but someone mentioned a blood clot so think it may have moved) and couldn't be resuscitated. Sorry about the delay in answering. all the best Pauline

For a 23 year old Lulu, you really are a lovely caring girl. I wish you luck in your AF journey and hopefully your Cardiologist/EP will be able to keep your AF at bay.

Keep well.

Had dye shoved in my veins during the MRI for mapping my venous system for my ablation and 3D imaging! :-D

I had to have something different but they said it cost a fortune and I had 2 bags of it.

Hi

I had dye when I did a treadmill testing couple years ago. I think if it was angiogram they would have told you. Its no small thing, and you have to sign for it.

Wish you well. Phil
