Well only a few days until my Ablation.I am not scared of the procedure ,more how I will feel after.I had OHS last April and had some complications and i took along time to recover . I have only just started to feel back to normal again.I really hope luck is on my side for once and I can feel ok after a week or two.

Ablation on the 8th July
I hope it goes well for you. Let us know how you get on.
I have a month to wait and am not scared as Bob promised that tooth extraction was worse. I keep remembering that and I'm holding him to it.
OHS = Root Canal Work, Ablation = Scale & polish. A week or two? You should feel pretty good the next day, and in my view, Jennydog, Bob is absolutely right.
Hi good luck with the ablation I know it,ll be fine.Just remember to take it easy for a few weeks and also you might feel a bit rotten for a few days with the affects of the anesthetic I did but at least I knew what to expect so i didn,t panic. Graham
Thankyou for the replies.I am hoping that my INR comes down a little so that it can go ahead. It has been in range for weekly testing but yesterday it was 3.7.
Mine was 3.5 on the day of my ablation and it was not a problem.
In saying you will be fine the following day, I'm assuming you have sedation.
GA so wont know much about it thankfully.
OK, well you just might be OK the following day, but I think it won't take long to feel good. Most people seem to have to put the brakes on and make an effort to take it easy and not do more than they should. The day after mine, I was turfed out of my bed at 8 as they had new patients arriving, carried my suitcase to the foyer and then was given an 'Instructions after ablation' leaflet: First item: Do NOT carry heavy weights! Good start!
I did similar to Rellim296. Got up the morning after my ablation and had a shower ready to go home. When I was given my does and don'ts list on a piece of paper before leaving, one was avoid bending for a few days. Well, I'd already bent down and washed and dried my feet.
Hope all goes well for you.
Once again thankyou for replies.
Good luck for the 8th. Please post and let us know how you feel afterwards as I am having mine on 11th. Take it easy afterwards.
After my first ablation I was fine almost immediately. Slight funny feeling in my chest (tightness?) for maybe a week? and I had to be careful with the groin wound, but back at work within 2-3 days, and no drugs except anticoags. Not recommended, but I'm self-employed and couldn't see the different between sitting at home doing nothing and sitting in a tractor doing something!
Second time round they went through the whole procedure but didn't ablate and afterwards, for nearly a week I felt unbelievably fantastic, 20 years younger. I don't know what they gave me, but I'd like some more .

Good luck for the 8th. I had mine 3 days ago and am doing fine. Took the dressing off today and can have shower etc.
Mostly I get tired, but have a bit of backache but not too bad. Though I am not doing much of anything, fully intend to take at least 7 days to recover. Fortunately I work for myself, do can set my own hours.
Hope all goes well
Carol
I have read all your replys and hopefully i will be good to go within a few days. I have a big party on the 26th but have done all the organising before i go into hospital so i can relax and recover .Im hoping that i will feel ok by then.
Good luck for the 8th thinking of you....
I came out of Hospital yesterday so was in abit longer than I thought. My Ablation took over 6 hours and I had a lot of work done but sadly didn't work.My heart rate was 159bpm but is now 120bmp after lots of meds.I have been put on Amiodarone and Bisoprolol.I will only be on the Amiodarone for a couple of months until I can then have my 2nd Ablation. I feel like ive been hit by a bus at the moment.
Oh, this is disappointing for you bettegrace. Sympathies. What a let down, especially after we all were keen to say you would be fine. We stand corrected and wish we had been right. Look after yourself. I do hope this is a very temporary situation.
Bettegrace, I am so sorry, I know the disappointment. You have gotten through the difficult part - the unknown factors of an ablation. The first one rattled me as well, and I must say going into the hospital the second time was much less mysterious! This condition certainly forges us into quite a courageous group... I am sorry you had to go through this phase. Looking forward to hearing good news after the next one! Go easy on yourself in between.
I am feeling alot better although getting quite breathless walking up the stairs and pottering around.I have a appointment next week to discuss a cardioversion if i am still in AF.Feeling very tired although im not sure if thats the high dose of meds i am taking.Thankyou for replies its nice to have someone to talk to.
Really glad you are improving. Thanks for letting us know. Let's hope you will have some joy at your appointment next week - if not before. Is the party still on?
I havent cancelled our party so hopefully will feel ok by then.
Yes, be positive! As you said, you are feeling better. This is a time to rally round a few helpers and get them to do the hard work. We went to a party at the weekend and the hostess had done none of the cooking! Various guests brought all the food.
I am ordering the food so that's one less thing to worry about.Everything seems to be sorted so theres no stress for me all I have to do is turn up.I had a ECG this morning and my heart is now beating at 108 so its coming down slowly although I feel awful on my meds, they make me so tired and away with the fairies.
