Is there a list of acronyms or abbreviations defining the many AFA medical abbreviations used on this website. In particular, what is EP, PAF, PVI, INR and so forth? I am fairly new to this website.

AFA medical abbreviations
Hello cmscott
EP - Electrophysiologist, a cardiologist specialising in heart rhythms
PAF- Paroxsysmal (ie occasional) Atrial Fibrillation
PVI - Pulmonary Vein Isolation - ablation treatment for AF
INR - International Normalised Ratio - indicates coagulation time ratio to normal for warfarin patients
There's lots of good information on the main AFA site and loads of helpful advice on this forum.
Finvola
Hello Finvola. Thank you for your quick reply to my question. Your post, like all the AFA posts, was very helpful and appreciated. In some posts, though, the reading flows well until I become hung up on a definition.
Finvola, I read your "about me" Profile and was much impressed by the picturesque and poetic description about you and your life. It was very obvious that I was reading the words of a very intelligent and educated person (lady). My wife too is a 35 year retired school teacher. Thanks

Hello Clay. I had exactly the same problems at the beginning, in fact I used to have 2 windows open whilst reading the forum - one with Wikipedia on hand to find my way through the posts!
Thank you for your kind words - they cheered me up and reminded me that there is life beyond AF and all its foibles.

A pinned list would be good.
Koll, I agree and thanks for your suggestion. Finvola suggested that there's lots of good information on the main AFA site and loads of helpful advice on this forum but I have either been too busy or just naturally too lazy to go look for it. Koll, I was raised on a farm, spent time in WW2. Thanks
