I don't know all the abbreviations used for medical conditions and procedures so it would helpful if when writing posts people could spell out the words in the beginning before using abbreviations.
Thank you.

Hi Ozette.
I tend to be guilty of doing this but understand your point. If it's someones first post I use the full name followed by the abbreviation in brackets. I agree for newbies to afib it is confusing. However the link above explains them all and can be found on the Pinned Posts on the right.
Paul
There is a pinned post with them all if you look.
I'm not that familiar with the site. Thanks.
I suggest you find your way round teh Health UNlocked () site as there are several pinned posts which are very useful to newcomers. Top right of screen under admin team.
VOM not on the list I saw.
Yes, I understand your issue as it concerns a lot of us. In such cases I have resorted to doing a Google search on the abbreviation followed by "medical", or "medical abbrev" and this usually leads to the explanation needed. For example say for TOE, then a "TOE medical" search gives you the info you need. Even "toe medical" will work. Good luck.
Totally agree. I've had AF for 10 yrs but don't know lots of terms used here. I have never heard a doc mention mini maze or heard of any EPs . Plus overseas contributors using terms in different ways/contexts.
I'm using a laptop and on the right is a list of pinned posts, one of which is called Medical Abbreviations
If you're not sure of a word or abbreviation, you can left click and highlight the word, then right click and go to 'Search Google for ****' and a new tab will open up with a list, it's very quick once you get a bit of practice, I find I do it quite a lot on this site.
Good luck
