See Paris First

by M. Truman Cooper

Suppose that what you fear

could be trapped,

and held in Paris.

Then you would have

the courage to go

everywhere in the world.

All the directions of the compass

open to you,

except the degrees east or west

of true north

that lead to Paris.

Still, you wouldn’t dare

put your toes

smack dab on the city limit line.

You’re not really willing

to stand on a mountainside

miles away

and watch the Paris lights

come up at night.

Just to be on the safe side

you decide to stay completely

out of France.

But then danger

seems too close

even to those boundaries,

and you feel

the timid part of you

covering the whole globe again.

You need the kind of friend

who learns your secret and says,

"See Paris first."

You've certainly carried many us through these trials and tribulations - not to mention your own! Bravo!

very appropriate Iris- have just been printing out everyone's replies to my questions about how much AF before they decided on ablation!!

I doubt you will find much continuity! If I had been offered the ablation sooner, I doubt I would have gone for it, though now I wish I hadn't lost so much time in the condition which is debilitating in so many other ways than just time and energy. My whole being is constantly in waiting.... task now is to move on! It almost becomes a crabby old friend that we don't know how to live without due to the learned anticipation.

You are right although the consensus seems to be sooner rather than later- I think your frequency and, if I remember correctly from earlier posts- episodes at night early a.m.seem similar to mine except your more recent episodes.

I feel it may be wise to go for ablation now- when it is on offer- partly because I was 70 this year and feel fit enough to undergo ablation.

The earlier short episodes this year didn't really warrant the risk but the recent longer episode was longer- still just under 2 hours- which seems short in comparison with others here- but does leave after effects and serious fatigue.

How are you feeling now? You seem to have got on very well- are you still progressing well- I do hope so.

Will look out for further poems!!

Thank you

Definitely - go for it! Mine are up to 12 hours, get in there before it creates more short circuits!!!!

Good one for me at the moment as I now have to eat a small amount of the foods that could trigger episodes of SVT - its called a challenge - honestly don't like that word -

but here goes.

Ouf, I remember when they gave me a 24 hour Holter and said eat and do whatever provokes your AF - I couldn't do it! I regret it, as I had to wait for the next episode and go to the EF to get it recorded! Live and learn. See Paris First!

That is a brilliant poem, thank you so much Iris... I love poetry, and that really speaks to me. Grasping nettles isn't easy but often it's the most painless way.
