My INR is now 3.0 went up from being 2.2 for two weeks.

I have been told to take 4mg tomorrow then 5mg the next day to keep changing the amount each day from 4 to 5. next blood test on 25th so we shall see how that works out.

On Monday my Dr wants to see me. :-)

Hi Chris, that's what they do with me if it goes too log or high, adjust every other day to a different amount, usually Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Just make sure you get an INR test done and not wait for a month if it's out of the range you're aiming for. By the way, 3.0 is the target that the INR specialists said they would aim for at the recent Patients Day.

My INR went up to 3.3 and was rising quickly, and they didn't book another test for a month, so I just booked another test after ten days or so and they didn't question it. If they had, I'd have said I'm going away or whatever.

Thank you for your posting.

I were thinking not to leave things to long before testing again, I will be seeing my Dr on Monday so going to ask him if I can have another test before the 25th,its seems to long to wait.

Take care Koll

Just to pick up on that point, I too am one of those patients who, through a certain anxiety, can't always wait until the 'next test date' and I have to say that on more than a few occasions that early reading has led to an early modification of the dosage as I was out of, or rapidly heading out of, therapeutic range.

Only once has my early attendance at the clinic been questioned but that particular bloodletter is a somewhat miserable sod at the best of times. Interestingly, a GP and a stroke nurse I met at a group meeting, both said that they shouldn't query your attendance. If you are in possession of the yellow book and you want your INR tested - it gets tested! Mind you, in the interest of good relations, as Koll suggests, "I'm going away" is a less confrontational response. But never forget, at imminent risk of a life-threatening or life-changing stroke when outside range, you are always in the driving seat.

Leelec.

Thank you for posting.

Yes always be in the driving seat that is what we all must remember.

I was doing that for a bit, the warfarin nurse preferred that to giving me half milligram tablets and keeping the dose the same each day, she said because the 0.5mg tablets are white and easy to confuse with the bisoprolol, which explains that! Sounds like you're well in range now though, great job, hope all goes well with the doc. My next blood test is next Thursday...

I have been on Warfarin since 1992 and it is common for me to be up and down like a yo-yo as Long as it is in range 2.5 - 3.5 for me I have had changes to tablets but that can be for 101 reasons change of tablets the weather my health at the time even down to what I have eaten. Cranberries, Brassica Veg and Drink all have an affect to how Warfarin works.

Be Well

This has been my pattern for a few years now - 5mg one day, 6 mg another - week on week.
