Check their weekend figures- under FOI if you need to and have time.

Freedom of information You can find it on the Hammersmith hospital site if you dig around a bit

Must admit, I felt a bit concerned about my first ablation which was done starting at 5 p.m. but on a weekday. I assume they do it all the time. Also when I arrived in theatre, the two (eminent) EP's were wearing My Little Pony overalls. But the ablation was a 100% success I'm glad to say.

I dont think it is bad timing. In fact it is about time hospitals did procedures over the weekend. The government are supposed to be moving the NHS towards 7 day a week procedures and interventions. MRI scans, bone density scans and some outpatient clinics etc are being undertaken over weekends in my area.

After all what is the point of having expensive equipment standing idle over the weekend. Good on them for working smarter. They must have consultants and other professionals buying into this. Your treatment will be just as good I am sure or they would not be undertaking it.

Best wishes.

There is a move to more Saturday appointments I think. I had my six monthly urology (post prostate cancer) last Saturday with the top consultant so things must be changing..

That is good to hear but I'm afraid I'm so relieved its now a Wednesday procedure. In line with recent news coverage I must say it does feel odd to walk round many areas of a hospital and find whole departments with no lights on, no people and doors locked. Seems such a waste.

Thank you. Panic over - its now a Wednesday. I was very concerned as my elderly mother was in a different hospital with kind treatment but it was a deserted, quiet, empty place from Friday afternoon until Monday morning. Each ward worked on a 'routine maintenance' schedule - not my favoured place to perhaps need emergency follow-up decisions and treatments should they be necessary. I agree with your sentiments but don't want to be an unfortunate statistic while waiting for 'an opinion' on Monday!

I saw the consultant cardiologist in the ward on a Sunday morning doing his rounds, just recently. I thought that was very good.
