Does anyone else experience their heart beating loudly in their left ear when laying down at night?

Yes, I get that if I sleep on my left side. I have to sleep on my right, or on a good night, on my back is OK as well. Think it's quite normal for a lot of AF'ers. When I used to drink, that was when it was worst, had to go tee-total unfortunately :-(

I can hear my blood rushing in my right ear ALL the time and yes it really is a bit of a haemorrhoid (Pain in the---) Trouble is we AFers get too darned sensitive and aware of our hearts.

Hi Bob,

Very interested in what you said about blood rushing in your right ear - for the last 3 weeks I have had a noise in my right ear all the time - sounds like a motor / humming - just wondering if this is what yours sounds like?

Never thought the noise may be connected to my heart - I have no symptoms and don't feel my heart beat. (Permanent AF).

Thanks

Marion

Yes, I had this for a period of time but as soon as I started taking acid inhibitors it seemed to stop. Like Koll says, I think it's fairly common for we AF'ers to have this. Now it's just my overly strong heartbeat pounding in my chest that keeps me awake when I go to bed.

always with me and pillows also make mine worse

Hi

I had that case few months back , and I visited more than a doctor cardio and ENT without any justification , then suddenly it stopped !

I think it was a virus or something I couldn't get it

My case was atrial flutter , and I thought it was related to it , but it stopped even before I treated it

Hope you will be better soon

Maitha

I have similar heart beat in my left ear, even worse when I wear headphones - can't use them.

I get this a lot when trying to get to sleep! It doesn't worry me as much as it annoys me. I end up sleeping on my hand, positioned in a way that the opening of my ear doesn't touch anywhere. The positioning takes a while to get comfy but worth it, for me anyway :-)

This is fairly common for everyone - not just people with AF. I had it off and on for a while about 15 years ago and then it went. Since I have had AF I have not had it. It is often related to a virus or some other thing that makes you feel 'out of sorts'.

I had very hard palpitation which made be feel a heavy heartbeat in my ears - both right and left. These hard palpitations have been eliminated since I started taking Mg supplements and getting more potassium in my diet. I still get occasional mild palpitations but have not been a problem for me.

Hi,I also suffer from this, and have done for a number of years.

I did,not know what was causing this until I began to get chest pains and shortness of breath. My GP sent me to A&E,where they found the Afib. That was two years ago.

I have been on bisoprolol and aspirin since having an angiogram last year.

The "night time machine gun"wakes me up regularly!!
