Does anyone else at my age (37) suffe... - Atrial Fibrillati...
Does anyone else at my age (37) suffer from breathlessness when NOT in AF? Or am I the only one?
Yes I do often at any time even when not in AF
I thought it was Bisoprolol 2.5mg which I take in the mornings, I took note how I were feeling before taking my meds, also I had this breathlessness later on in the evenings so I think it's not this meds I'm taking, somedays are better then others.
Bisoprolol does get the blame for breathlessness in my case it's nothing to do with meds.

Christo4 thanks for reply... I also take 2.5g of bisoprolol in the morning as its the only meds that have nearly stopped my AF. But it's taken 6 months to get on the right meds.. But my breathlessness has always been there and is getting worse! It's distroying my life and making it more and more difficult to do my dream job! I need help!!!
Bisoprolol made me breathless, tired and worn out. I was on 2.5mg a day for a short while. EP took me off it, said it was the wrong drug for me (which doesn't mean the wrong one for you) and put me on rhythm control drugs which are working. At the Patients Day last year, an EP said that for most people who had AF when they went to bed/lay down, beta-blockers were the wrong drug, and that's me.

Hi koll, thanks for reply interesting because the only time I get a flutter now is at night/laying down! I'm having a 7 day monitor fitted tomz so see what the results say when I visit my EP in June? :0)
That's right- it's vagal AF which comes on at night/change of position etc and both beta blockers and digoxin are contra-indicated with it.
Not always Rosie, I don't have vagal AF, but still get bouts at night. Sorry Rosie, couldn't resist it. Lol

In AF over 10% of the time. Breathlessness comes on normally whilst walking and not always connected with AF. Had MIBI scan and all clear. Taking Dronedarone - NOT taking Bisoprolol.
That's when I feel breathless, not all of the time, but when I am out walking, especially up hill
I have a lung condition too. So it is hard but when I was on 3 x 80 Mg sotalol my lips and fingers went blue and some other tabs they have given me have affected my breathing badly.
Be Well
Hi Jomack. I'm 37 too & am now in NSR after a successful cardioversion in April. I still get very breathless and a very uncomfortable feeling across my chest if I suddenly start exercising (e.g. walking up a hill quickly) or if I'm stressed out & really tense about something. I had all sorts of tests to check my heart is structurally normal (it is) and so the 'exercise limitation' thing is just something I guess I have to live with - which I don't mind, as long as I'm not in AF. I'm just coming off 2.5mg bisoprolol because it isn't needed now they've worked out that my heart is structurally normal (& I don't think it causes the breathlessness in my case, although of course it would be lovely if I discovered that stopping bisoprolol did improve things...)
Hope you continue to stay out of AF and feel better as time goes on.
Lulu77... So u have had an ablation? (Did I read that right?) how are u coping with working? I have had also just come out of hospital after a heart attack! Not AF related a new heart cond to do with my bloody. I had an angiogram while in hospital and the macanics of my heart are also good and had a MRI chest scan and lungs clear so it must be the meds?!? I get it in and out of AF I have been diognoised with PAF which breathlessness is one of the side effects but.... I've not always had breathlessness it just came out of the blue before any meds!! It's a mystery but I'm struggling to recover from the heart attack because I get out of breath and hate it so I never push myself! Help!!!
I am often breathless esp walking up hill and my consultant said it was the medication keeping heart rate down. I just have to live with it. I work full time.
I walk 2k every morning on a treadmill. I keep the speed at 6.5kph, I breath quickly while doing it but I don't get out of breath, tired afterwards but not breathless. However there is an incline up to the bowling club I go to, not steep and only 50metres long, but by the time I get to the gate I can hardly catch my breath. I am on Bisoprolol, and this is the only thing I can put it down to.
