I ended up in Emergency again with the atrial fibrillation. I saw my Cardiologist and I am back on Atenolol and Digoxin. The flecainide made my Afib worse. I hope you all have a great weekend.
Update: I ended up in Emergency again... - Atrial Fibrillati...
Update
Sorry to hear that. Many anti-arrhythmic drugs have the potential to be pro-arrhythmic with some people I'm afraid.
Hope your weekend is as good as I intend mine to be.

I had the exact same problem with flecainide, made my problems lots worse and made me feel psychotic, depressed and paranoid. Horrible drugs in my opinion.
I was put on Flecainide many years ago but after 6 months I was extremely depressed and so my GP Yellow carded this drug and. I was put on Seroxat for many months to let me get back to normal. I now only use Flecainide as pill-in-the-pocket with the knowledge that it will sort out my PAF but that I will have a bad nights sleep .
I had also the worse attack ever and ended also in ER after a month of starting Flecainade
Sorry to hear that you had similar situation , hope you will better soon
All the best
My GP called flecainide "a dirty drug. But if it suits you that's fine. "
Sorry it has caused you probs but it has been great for me. Wouldn't like folk to be put off as we're all different and for some it's just fine.
After my first ever episode of AF two years ago they tried to make me take Flecanide. It was like taking poison for me. Put me in this weird trance like state (before I felt fine) Felt dizzy & slow. Once I had numbness in my forehead & had to call an ambulance. I had to stop taking it. Nasty drug that didn't go down well with me at all. Sotatol was fine though when I needed it.
I don't need medicine now though thank goodness !
I think we all react differently to different things. I was on Propafenone and it had weird effects on me, some were hiralious. Basically I went into a time warp and things happened in slooooooow-moooootion. If something fell out of the fridge, I could stand and watch it for what seemed about 20-30 seconds as it span towards the floor, then I would just calmly put my foot out and catch it with my toes, dead easy. I was like Grasshopper in Kung Foo :). But my AF went completely, it was great in that respect.
Just about to be prescribed drugs again I feel, as AF coming back and worse, so will be wary of Flecanide having read this.
Blimey Koll, you sure your drug wasn't spiked!! Hope they can sort your AF out, there seem to be a lot of different options out there, don't there?
yes I need some of that lol...
Me too I need slow motion drug lol
I have taken Flecainide for over 10 years no problems what so ever it is perfect for my PAF and would never change it. When i was younger i OD on it a couple of time took 4-5 100mg tabs in one go and i just got dizzy speels but i take 200mg in one sitting before bed now
I don't usually post but read all the posts & have been on flecainade for over a year now with no episodes of AF for that time so am over the moon. Was heartened by ac2326's comments about being good for 10 years as I wonder how long the good effects will last.
I don' t know but the flecainide made me feel sick and maybe I need to be on a higher dose for it to work. I have to work so the cardiologist had to make a change on the medication. I seem to be doing better.
No longer applies to me due to the ablation surgery in 2014.
