Hello all,

While still being in the midst of a full diagnosis this forum had helped me a lot so far. My dad is as we speak getting his PET scan to see if and how far his PC had spread.

It all started in Feb when he did a blood test after having peeing problems for quite some time. His PSA came back in the high 90s so thats when the alarm bells went off.

So far we only received bad news, since his Gleason score was also very high with 9. That was a shock. I already read so much so i feel quite prepared for what is to come. Really hoping that it is not spread everywhere, and mostly local, that would be the best possible news in this situation i guess…

Thanksful for this community already and happy my dad will be taken care of by an specialized team in an academic hospital (Radboud) here in the Netherlands.

I’m glad he is at an academic institution and getting a PET CT. Hoping it’s contained to his prostate. Take it a day at a time.

of course you’ll have to see what the scan results are and how to proceed. You , at this point, don’t even know if it’s stage4 A or B.

There are some quite successful , life prolonging , treatments nowadays , like triplet therapy that is having really good results. Men are living longer. ….. longer than they did just a few years ago.

This group has , imho, the best / latest medical knowledge for prostate cancer , great camaraderie , and a great QOL activity too. Both you and your father will be well informed and among friends here .

❤️❤️❤️

Welcome to the group! Many of us are here for our dads. Waiting on scan results is so hard. Hopefully you get the results quickly and get some good news! Just a word of encouragement, I was in your very position ten years ago this June. My dad's PSA was 257, his Gleason was 10, and he was in kidney failure due to the size of the tumor. He's been on and off many different treatments, but he's still here today with his prostate cancer fully in check! There have been many developments in the past ten years, too, so stay hopeful!

Keep in mind- there are people (including myself) who have responded well to treatment even though at Dx they had some bone meta and a Gleason 9. Hoping for the best
