Stage 4 prostate cancer. Still on break from ADT meds and feeling better to than what I have in a long time. Feeling grateful.I eat a pretty good healthy diet and no processed foods.
What are the foods to stay far away from with advanced prostate cancer even if on ADT meds? What are the foods you find most helpful boosting energy. What foods you recommend for the immune system and prostate health?
Do you recommend smoothies ? Any teas?
Looking forward.

I've yet to see any verified information that diet can change the trajectory of our Dx and progression. I've seen a number of MO's and RO's, none of them have suggested any changes of what I eat or drink. As I'm sure we have all have seen, we know people who have lived the perfect, food, marathon running live who have passed at a young age. On the other side, my morbidly obese aunt who lived to her late '80s.
IMO, if I changed all the pleasures in my life of a good steak on occasion and a nice bottle of wine, I'm done. I will not live on a bunch of leaves and be miserable. Just my own opinion.
I went from a sugar junkie before 2 bouts of this beast, to mostly plant based diet with skinless chicken and fish. Keifer and fermented foods. So, does it help with Prostate Cancer?
Maybe, but guess what it does help?
My energy level is higher than in years, feel great, dont need statins or any other medications, feel better than I have in years.
Look up the "Blue Zones", those area's in the world with the longest life spans, what are the commonalities? Mediterranean like diets ( heavy on plants - fish - nuts - grains)- so - for me - no down side - all positives!
But to each thier own - but the science and studies are out there to validate this - but no money for the Industrial Food / Medicine Mega Industries - so its suppressed - from what I can tell.
Look at the facts - how sick and obese Americans are - look at the terrible diets we have slowly adapted over the past decades.
Look up the studies on Western populations gut biota changes since these terrible processed diets have taken over - the average Americans gut biota is completely devoid of many of the healthy micro-organisms important for a humans health!
Cucumber ( a study in Greece found that women who ate cucumber everyday never got breast cancer ) cougette has the same anti cancer properties it's in the skin Cabbage - esp raw cabbage
Turmeric
Fenugreek

Green sea kelp (not brown)
Lycopene rich foods ie tomatoes watermelon
Cloves
Tofu tempeh natto
Mushrooms esp those with dht blocking properties
Strawberries
Raspberries
Green tea
Red wine
Red seeded grapes
Dishes that should be good at fighting pca
Tofu stir fry
Gaspacho
Coleslaw
My husband has a baby asprin every few days to block arachidonic acid
I believe lycopene is the key to defeating this beast, at least for myself. There may be umpteen variations of the beast, so it might not work for everyone. But tomato-based foods can cause an increase in immune system T-cells, (the ones that gobble up cancer cells), so the more and the more often you consume them, the better off you are. It is necessary to consume some oil with them, to absorb in the bloodstream and they must be cooked. Tomato juice, paste, sauce, soup, catsup, taco sauce, coctail sauce, V8 juice, those all are high in lycopene. As it only works while in your small intestine, six hours or so after eating, it needs to be consumed at every meal and then some.
They say green tea is good for the immune system. I suppose so, but I cannot say it kills cancer cells. Maybe it defends against virus or other foreign invaders?
My diet is low of fat and sugar.Lot of fiber and vegetables. Fermented food and food with lactic acid bacteria(sauerkraut, kefir, miso, buttermilk, curd, actimel etc),whole grain, lycopen(tomato foods),broccoli, cauliflower, beetroot, matcha pulver,omega3 etc. No red meat.Taking magnesium,d-vitamin+calc pills.
I do whole food plant based diet. No meat, dairy, eggs, alcohol, soft drinks, processed food. Exercise helps energy, as does not overeating (still have a tendency to do that). Overeating seems to drain my energy more than anything. Better to eat small amounts through the day.
I make pitchers of brewed iced green tea to keep my husband off soda. And then he has a hot green tea in the morning with a tablespoon of fulvic minerals, some collagen powder, honey and lemon. Started him on some spirulina tablets also as he does not like vegetables. At least he does not drink and eats small meals. But countering the sweet tooth is a challenge!
He also takes lycopene. And a T of black seed oil when I insist. It does taste like gasoline so I get it. Yuck! One guy in here says he takes it before eating a banana. Also research infrared heat. Has benefits too.
Yes quarterly Lupron shots, daily Erleada (apalutimude) and twice a year Prolia shots (for bones). He is Gleason 8 with bone mets. He also has low dose estrogen patches which eliminated hot flashes. This is still so strange to me that if you didn’t know he had this disease you wouldn’t know. He seems fine otherwise. MO says a huge % of men (70% plus I recall but don’t quote me) have this when they pass but were never diagnosed. He also said husband could get a good 4-5 years on this protocol and hopefully by then something new will be out when/if need to pivot treatment. We just have to hope PSA keeps declining (now at .8).
Long ago, a girl that I dated said to me "John, did you know that they say you are what you eat?" Funny, but I always wondered why she used to call me Harriet?
