I start docetaxel on Tuesday. It's been a terribly stressful week (my brother lost his home and everything in the Palisades fire and his family +3 dogs have been staying with us). I was hoping to start chemo relaxed and rested. Oh well! But everyone is safe, and that's what matters.
So here's what I'm selfishly asking for myself:
What tv shows and movies are you watching that are funny, positive, uplifting, easy, and would be good to pass the time while sitting in the infusion chair?
Open to any and all genres, any suggestions. I've got Netflix, Amazon, Disney, Max, Hulu, you name it. Oh, Audible too as I love audio books and podcasts. Just want to avoid horror, war, stress ... basically, the news!
So ... what'chya got for me?

Depending on your age and musical tastes, all of the Beatles documentaries on Disney+ are delightful. The four lads had so much talent and synergy. Working class blokes from a rundown port town in England who got lucky but also worked incredibly hard. Just watched Beatles '64 last night, made my partner with Stage 4a PCa smile a lot.
I've been meaning to watch "A man on the inside". I really loved "The Good Place" place by Michael Schur and this is his new work on Netflix with Ted Danson.
It’s wonderful. But there is dementia and parents/child relationships as thematic elements so I don’t know if I’d call it very light. I cried a few times.
Fisk is the one we’ve just laughed our way through!
I agree on the idea of uplifting TV. Whatever we’ve watched in the evening we always finish with one of the 20/30 minute comedy shows. That way we go to bed smiling 😄
"Ted Lasso" series - hilarious and warm-hearted. We both loved it. Movie "Love, Actually" (oldie but goodie). Series "Shrinking" - Harrison Ford is great.
I’ll second Hiker Wife’s recommendation of the series Ted Lasso on Apple TV. Good comedy with excellent performances by actors with well develop their characters and a heartwarming storyline.
To start with, I an very sorry to hear about your brother. Best wishes for him and his family as they have a different type of tough road ahead.
To answer your question I have the same sort of lineup that you have. Maybe one or two different channels, or maybe one or two less.
My viewing tends to lean toward whatever sports are on, followed by a series or two in the evening Currently watching Landman. Have done Tulsa King and Lioness.
Movies tend to be more on the action genre.
Of course when the grandkids cone over it is Bluey and some other animated stuff.
Good luck in your journey. Make sure you are doing some exercise
I always laugh a ton at Curb Your Enthusiasm. 12 seasons so plenty to watch. There was a mockumentary called American Vandal that was a hoot (they accurately copied the Making of a Murderer documentary to hilarious effect). Also love nature shows to see the beauty of our planet.
Read up on infrared heat. It may be soothing during treatment. Good luck!!
TED is funny, I think you have to have a New England background to appreciate some of the humor though. Planes, Trains and Automobiles is laugh out loud funny. The "Reacher" series is interesting, on Amazon.
Schitt's Creek got me through some very worrying and dark times. I'd watch one episode (luckily there were 80 made) each night just before bed - and instead of obsessing about PCa - I'd go to sleep thinking about Schitt's Creek. Highly recommended. Available on Hulu, AppleTV, and Fubo.
