Finding Clinical Trials

wontrememberthis profile image

My FIL is out of options and his doc has said to “find clinical trials” but is less than helpful in suggesting which ones he might qualify for.

Had anyone used EmergingMed to find trials? Seems like they match you with trials for free?

Is it legit?

if you have the paid version of ChatGPT, you can use the clinical trial finder at the bottom of malecare.org If not, it will be available for free by mid January

I used the ChatGPT link at Malecare.org with one of my son’s PW. Her questions relevant. The conversation concise. The result very thorough. I’ll revisit after I receive my ctDNA results.

I would try to repeat the Pluvicto therapy. This is not too much radiation. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/304...

If you want to try a new drug here is a clinical trial at e.g. Yale Cancer Center. clinicaltrials.gov/study/NC...

There are a bewildering number of clinical trials listed on clinicaltrials.gov. The trick is to find the clinical trials appropriate for him. It would narrow down the list if he had more info about his particular PCa. To that end, discuss with his oncologist a biopsy of one or a few of his newest metastases. The tissue can be analyzed for histology, IHC and his genomics.

You didn't say where he is -his location can be a constraint.

Learning questions - I am not hijacking the thread but learning your opinion. I have options to do Pluvicto or TLX591 (177Lu rosopatamab tetraxetan).

What would be your recommendations from your experience ?

I would do TLX591 because the ligand is more specific. Scott Tagawa at Weill-Cornell has been using it in trials for about a decade.

thanks all. FIL- father in law.

A complicating factor is that he also has the dual issue of having had dozens of UTIs in the past four years and the past year he’s pretty much had a permanent UTI. Last month a new strain of bacteria showed up to the party and antibiotics are decreasing in efficacy. I am realizing that the active infection will likely disqualify him from most clinical trials. I hate to have him using his precious time making phone calls or going to appointments if it’s not an option you know?
