I'm on Orgovyx + Abi for three months, (started recently) hoping to shrink my prostate to assist IMRT. After IMRT I'll have brachytherapy . I'll be on Org/Abi for 12 or 18 months, depending upon the outcome of that test that assesses aggressiveness. My cancer is Gleason 4+4, a small extension (~5mm) to the pelvic sling, but PSMA shows no hot mets, nor hot lymph glands.
Last year I had my L hip replaced and I just love it! The R hip needs replacement too and is slowly getting more limiting (meaning I need to stop doing elliptical at 20-25 minutes due to R hip pain).
Question: After brachy has run its course, is surgery ok while still on the Orgo/Abi? In other words does that combo make surgical recovery worse/slower? Or, is it just neutral? I was thinking of scheduling it next summer after the brachy is done.
Thoughts?

I had a knee replacement while on ADT. The only concern the surgeon had was my being on Prednisone for the few days after the surgery. He and my MO talked and they for me to cut the dose in half for 1 week.
Other than that, I had no issues. Knee feels great! Quick recovery. So nice to have that pain gone.
Thanks Huzzah and Allen. I had forgotten about the 5mg prednisone. There is a paper out there, a good one, that looked at steroids for ADT, from what I recall, most could withstand a reduction even to zero for a week. Yes, now I say to folk: "If you're thinking of getting a hip or knee done, do it."
While on Lupron I had one knee replaced and hand surgery. Then while on Nubeqa & Lupron I had the other knee replaced. On my third year on the latter two I had a septic infection that required one knee to be opened up, some debridement but the metal was left in.
*lol* Spinel is a gemstone. The most important ruby in the world, the "Black Prince Ruby," in Great Britain's crown is actually a Spinel. I facet gemstones as a hobby and like Spinels better than Rubies or Sapphires.
Spinel is a transparent to opaque gem, with colors as vivid as ruby-like reds, some darker "brick" red, and some almost orange. Spinel comes in blue, with the finest stones comparable to that of sapphires, and considered extremely rare.

How unusual to find a Jyotish quality red spinel of this size at this price! This gem has an excellent cut, is as flawless as we strictly require for astrology, and possesses a lovely, earthy deep pinkish red color. This is a steal, priced below wholesale.
I'll take two......... a Hood Ornament for my 1929 Bentley and one for my 1931 Bentley.
Oh shoot.......... I forgot to mention that I collect door knobs......... so if you come across any Spinel ones, let me know.... I'd like a couple of them (an in and an out) for my collection. Thanks and hopefully you'll find a gem in your stuffing tomorrow. Happy Thanksgiving.
Honestly, although I had IMRT and Brachy and ADT, I do not know the answer to your question. There are many here far more aware of what the literature and their own personal experience tells us. Good luck to you.
I had my right hip replaced on Sept 20 this year. I was 16 months in on Eligard going to 24. I had left hip replaced about 4 yrs ago. I am doing fine and I would say the recent experience is not that different. The primary issue is that it interrupted my exercise routine which set me back on strength and stamina in general but it is coming around. Good luck to you.
Thanks, stealthrider. Yes, it did occur to me that it would interrupt exercise, although last summer when I had my L hip done, within 3 weeks I was walking 2 miles per day. Hopefully I'll only be on the ART meds for 12 months, but if the genetic testing points to a more agressive form, then perhaps 18 or 24 month. I would really, really love to have it done, and over when I stop the Orgovyx. We'll see
