change in taste on adt?

I recently had my second Lupron injection, also on Xtandi. I’ve noticed over the past few weeks that my taste buds are off. Anyone experienced something similar?

I am also on Xtandi and as far as I can tell, my taste buds are no different than before.

However another poster here, Tinkudi, wrote a post about this just a few weeks ago. His dad, who is on Xtandi, says that he now finds food to have some sweet after taste or something along those lines.

Here is the link to that post he made: healthunlocked.com/advanced...

Dad says he has a sweetish taste in mouth often. I read some other people on xtandi also have similar - change of taste is mentioned as one side effect of xtandi in a small percentage of people

This fix is more for chemo taxotere that I’ll be starting soon. I’m on xandti and eligard. There’s a berry called miracle berry or Synsepalum dulcificum. It is supposed to take away the metallic taste in your mouth on chemo. When normal people use it it just makes sour things taste sweet and changes the flavor profile of a lot of different foods. I’ve tried eat a lemon it taste like an orange. It makes red wine taste sweeter. You could drink vinegar with no problem. Takes about five minutes in your mouth and it changes the perception of food. It couldn’t hurt to give it a try. It’s not a permanent fix but. Let me know if that helps at all. But it’s a protein it binds to a receptor on your tongue. Does some kind of magic dance .

yep, I am on lupron and Xtandi. I was on abiriterone but had to switch due to high liver enzymes. After switching to Xtandi, my taste buds disappeared! Everything is bland, or really salty! Nothing taste good. Also the texture of everything changed. It’s crazy and driving me nuts, as I’m trying to find something I can eat that’s decent! So far protein shacks and oatmeal are my best options along with salads! If anyone knows how to change this bizarre reaction please let me know.

What time do you take the xtandi. I have read taking in the night before sleeping lessens side effects

My Oncologist suggested same, take it at night. I tried for 2 weeks but no change. Thanks

I am more sensitive to salt now.

It's not the Lupron but has to be the Xtandi cause the newly hired illegal pill fillers confuse the word Candy for Xtandi.

Not ADT or prostate cancer related but I did experience a similar issue. When my cardiologist first put me on propafenone for atrial fibrillation I had an annoying and unpleasant metallic kind of taste in my mouth. I endured that for months until one day I realized that it was gone.

Second ever? Can't say I'd draw any conclusions at all from that.

In my case, no, nothing changed. Appetite is iffier but otherwise, same.

I’ve been on religolix and abiraterone with a prednisone chaser for six months now, before that religolix only for two years (similar to Lupron). Same lousy taste the entire time. Supposedly ADT encourages weight gain, but since food and wine are no longer a pleasure, no weight gain issues (one heck of a silver lining).

On Lupron, Apalutamide and Megestrol and I have become very sensitive to taste of salt, even my own mouth will taste salty. My blood work always comes back good and none of my docs are concerned, maybe a bit puzzled.
