It is been 18 months since my last Hyperbaric Oygen Treatment for radiation cystitis. I had bleeding with clots multiple times which sent me to the ER. I have not had any bleeding since then, except one time a few months ago while doing exercises related to physical therapy.
My urologist says as long as I don't get clots, I should not think my Hematuria / Radiation Cystitis is recurring. He said I could ride a bit, perhaps starting in a gym with a recumbant bike, but did not think the pressure of sitting would trigger any more bleeding with clots. He did say that in my case, because I am using a supra pubic catheter, I could get instances of minor bleeding (with no clots) just because the catheter rubs the inner bladder walls.
What I want to know is whether anyone else who had this hematuria / radiation cystitis condition and who is now in remission (or hopefully cured) has been able to ride a few miles at a moderate speed, without triggering any bleeding. I am curious, even if you do not use a catheter. I am not looking to do long distance riding - just a few miles to help keep in shape. It is one of the activities I really miss.
Thank you for any insight you might have.
