I was receiving Xgeva when they spotted something they thought was possible necrosis in my left jaw. Told me to quit Xgeva. I stopped Xgeva for 2 years. Now they want me back on it. I visited an oral surgeon who told me the spot was definitely not necrosis. With that I can restart Xgeva.

I am told I have osteopenia. Don’t really want to add anymore drugs. How necessary is it that I restart Xgeva?

Osteopenia leads to Osteoporosis so there is that

The risk of bone fracture and spinal compression is high. IMO 2 years of Xgeva at a time is a good policy.

TA, roughly how long between treatments ? Would you suggest the same for Alendronic Acid?

There are two purposes:

• Preventing fragility fractures from long-term ADT

• Preventing metastatic fractures

Reclast (zometa) is available as an annual infusion. Fosamax (alendronic acid) is enough to prevent osteoporosis and fragility fractures.

Sounds like I need to start it.

Thanks for the input.

Not (necessary) but important. Xgeva is typically 120 mg given monthly. Prolia is 60mg given every six months. You could consider moderating it with the 120mg Xgeva every three months. What I am doing now. Does not require being castrate resistant to take it and protect one’s bones.

120 mg every three months is my dose. I was beginning to think my MO pulled it out of the air, so good to know someone else is getting it.
