Dry mouth side effect and its horrible consequences

Lupron plus other medicines and numerous radiation treatments I've taken for other medical conditions made me get dry mouth. xerostomia can adversely affect oral intake leading to poor nutrition, gingivitis and periodontitis, dental caries, halitosis, fungal infections (candidiasis), and accelerating enamel erosion. Chronic discomfort from dry mouth can contribute to symptoms of anxiety and depression. My lack of attention got out of hand. As a result I am now midway getting my teeth pulled out, and when completed will be getting full mouth dentures! I am so frustrated and never though this could happen to me. Why didn't I stop taking poisonous PC's Rx before?! I used to be very proud of my healthy teeth, now I cover my mouth with a mask so I do not show the horrific hollowed mouth.

Sorry about your "teeth" issues.....Can the dentist install a couple of implants which can be used as anchors for so called permanent dentures?

To this list you might also add Mexican dental clinics. I had a wonderful visit with one such clinic across the border from Tucson. Do your homework. A U.S. company that works with these clinics is Dayo Dental.

If you have only consulted with one dentist, try getting a second opinion, particularly from a dentist with affiliation to a dental school. If there are even a very few strategic teeth that can be saved it can make a major difference in the stability of any dentures you get--particularly in the lower jaw. Use of fluoride rinses, fluoride varnishes and silver diamine fluoride can help prevent decay on any teeth remaining.

Implants to help retain full overdentures greatly improve fit and function. Your average price of $50K for an overdenture with two implants is way high. Most people do fine with full upper dentures (except for people with severe gagging, which is a small fraction). A lower overdenture with two retaining fixtures should be more in the $10K range.

Hello, thank you for replying. In fact there is five dentist offices I visited before finding this dental clinic affiliated to a major hospital. The $50k I mentioned may be incorrect, I do know it is an outrageous amount of money I can't afford. All five dentists coincided on their diagnosis. All of my dental pieces were very affected by disease produced by the lack of saliva. The second round if radiation left my throat in such a bad shape I could barely shallow.
