Today my father got his latest blood report . PSA down to 2.96 from 7.95 (initially diagnosed at 79.5). PSA is gradually going down which i think may be a good sign . But in todays report ALT came at 102.8U/l and AST at 67.8 U/l . In last report 2 months back it was 27.3 and 23.8 respectively for ALT and AST .
Alkaline phosphate which was 2655 IU came at 574 IU as on today's report . All other markers are with in range except hemoglobin which is 10g/dl .
Does this indicates that Abiraterone is causing some liver issue ?

Abiraterone is known to possibly cause liver issues. That is why your blood is drawn often when starting abiraterone. ALT & AST can go 5 times higher than normal before you must stop taking the drug. Mine came close to that after about 7 months. I paused the drug for several weeks until my numbers went back to normal. I then restarted at 500mg (1/2 dose) to see if ALT & AST rose again. They stayed normal. I then went up tp 750 mg & my numbers stayed normal. My MO kept my dose at 750 mg & my PSA has been <0.01 all through treatment. Best of luck.
this is a very common side effect of Abiraterone. Interestingly it often goes away with time. In my case we stopped it a week then restarted at 760 mg and never had the problem again.
