Dad started on the loading dose of Relugolix ( orgovyx) yesterday. Today he says he feels a little tired.

Does it affect so soon ?

Break down of participants' age of the HERO trial that led to Orgovyx FDA approval.

I am not sure that the tiredness is caused by Orgovyx. It does not make me tired.

Actually it was just on day 1. - maybe due to the loading dose. Now he is ok 😊.

Since you are same age as dad , could you tell me what treatments you have taken and what was your diagnosis

That info is in my bio (click on my name). In 2021 I was diagnosed Gleason 3+4 with perineural invasion and had 20 IMRT prostate radiations. No ADT. PSA nadir was only 0.93. In 2023 the PSA was doubling and a scan found cancer still in prostate and spread to a pelvic node, so I had 30 IMRT pelvic radiations. PSA would not go down and second scan in 2023 found cancer growing in prostate and spread to an abdominal node. In 2024 I started doublet therapy with Orgovyx and Abiraterone. PSA quickly fell to 0.03 and testosterone to less than 3. Minor side effects from the two medications, none upleasant.

thank you. Did you choose the abiraterone over the others or did the doctor decide. Dads MO has prescribed 40 mg of xtandi after two week to take along with the orgovyx

I chose the Abiraterone, which my urologist did not even mention. He said to use one of the 'lutamides, and strongly pushed Erleada (apalutamide) because Xtandi (enzalutamide) was harsher and I did not qualify for Nubeqa (darolutamide). I wanted Nubeqa because of my seizure history.

Based on an exchange in this forum, I asked for 10-year old Abiraterone (Zytiga before it became generic) because it did not cross the blood-brain barrier. The urologist was surprised when I asked for it, maybe because he should have thought of it himself.

If not for the seizure history, I would have gone with Erleada, a more modern and effective drug. A friend started Zytiga and had such miserable side effects that his dose was reduced by 1/2.
