Some good news…

I’ve been trying to figure out some extreme lower back pain, and had another PSMA/PET scan today. I had visions of cancerous spread to my spine, and wanted to check things. Well, while it didn’t solve my back pain questions, it did gave me some good news.

“There is no abnormal radiotracer uptake on this examination. The left external iliac node identified on 12/14/2023 is no longer present. The radiotracer uptake within the prostate has resolved.”

I’ve got some more diagnostic tests to come for my back, but am really happy that my recent EBRT sessions apparently did something.

I didn’t do much but lie on a table… but thanks!

EBRT

And not move for an hour which is an accomplishment. I just finished EBRT of my head with my head in a clamp. No problem with the cradle for the other lesions but I needed atavan for that one.

As a warning: If anyone has (even mild) confinement claustrophobia and is going to have radiation treatment to the head be ready in advance. They put a custom mask over your head and clamp your head to the table in a way that you could never get out. Some people are fine with that but others are not.

That's great news! My first 'symptom' was back pain before I even knew I had PCa. So, I can imagine your relief! Hopefully new tests can reveal nothing too and it's just some muscle aches?

Sorry about the back pain, but congrats on suffering some ‘normal’ aging malady!

love that good news warrior. Have a pet scan scheduled for next week. Dr want to make sure the cancer has not spread.

Since you referred to recent radiation treatments, I wonder if you might have a similar situation to what I ran into last year. Following 44 proton radiation sessions, and a year into ADT, I had back pain and severe sciatica, and an MRI showed sacral insufficiency fractures. My orthopedist, MO, and RO all concurred that they were likely due to a combination of radiation damage and low bone density due to ADT. They put me on Reclast to address the osteopenia, along with calcium supplements, and one way or another, I rapidly improved. No back or sciatic pain now, and I'm back to unrestricted workouts.

I hope you have as good an outcome as I had!

so I guess I just should stay the course (orgovyx, Abiraterone, Prednisone, and regular blood tests…)

my husband had some low back pain and turns out he has some kidney stones! Not sure if PET would pick that up. He had a CT scan with contrast.

In my continuing search for relief, I’m getting an ultrasound tomorrow.
