Sorry me again

positive-thinking profile image

I posted after last PSA and have the chemo # 5 PSA now. It was 0.12 again ,same as chemo # 4. I know this is low but I'm just worried it is not low enough and will stay there. Is it normal to stop at Chemo 4 and 5 . He got his last chemo and we will know what it is than but this waiting to see if it changed is so hard. Guess I'm just looking for others that had this happen and eventually had it get lower? He is also BRCA2 and not sure if this makes everything a bit more stubborn . Thanks for any info

It's completely understandable to feel anxious while waiting for results, especially when it comes to something as important as PSA levels during chemotherapy. While I can't provide medical advice, it's not uncommon for PSA levels to stabilize or plateau during treatment. Factors such as being BRCA2 positive may indeed influence response rates, but every individual's situation is unique.

It might be helpful to connect with others who have gone through similar experiences for support and insights. Additionally, discussing your concerns with your doctor they can provide reassurance and clarity about what to expect moving forward. Remember, you're not alone in this journey, and there is support available.

Thanks for the response, the doctor says his PSA is low and was not concerned. But I wanted to hear if others had this, may help me feel less anxious while waiting to hear this is ok .

Mine didn't become undetectable until after chemo and I had started radiation. It's been 2.5 since, remains undetectable. Good luck, anxiety comes with the territory. I have labs today and of course I remain anxious, but hopeful.

It seems with al my reading that a lot of men have to have radiation before it is brought down. We were told no radiation unless he has pain and it is needed for that . Thanks for replying

Looking at your profile, chemo is just the start of triplet therapy. Give the ADT a chance after chemo and see then where things are. I would not worry at this stage.

Thanks , trying not worry but is hard . Crossing my fingers . He had a Zoladex injection that is reflected in the 2 PSA's that were 0.12 so may have something to do with it ?

Yes and chemo can cause flares from the dying cells so wait for things to calm down. He should have a long run with hormone therapy. I'm on year six.

I surely get what you mean by worrying.....Been there, done that and have the tee shirt to prove it. I worried every minute of the day but finally said.... screw that I'm going to laugh cause I also want to live. Like most of us here, you get to learn how to accept the battle and live. Worry? Can you imagine that I started my battle in 2002 when I was 66 years old and my son was 11 years old. I am now 87 and my son is 33. I know absolutely nothing about Pca but I do know how to laugh. I wish to apologize for my post regarding Positive-thinking but I was merely trying to remind you that your UserID did reflect your posts. One day in the near future I'm sure you will change your UserID to Positively-laughing. So God Bless and -

No need to apologize to me as I did not take offence to your response at all, I find you inspiring and your story is amazing . You make me smile with your comments and we must share the same sense of humour because when others are offended I find myself smiling . Bless you warrior
