RSI type symptoms to wrists and thumbs

Hi, so many helpful shares and even if not my own experience yet, reassuring that I can search content that will help

My latest experience is sudden onset RSI types issues in both wrists and thumbs. Had sudden pain and couldn’t grip anything. I’ve managed to ease it with Voltorol gel and wrist supports. I’m not currently on any active treatment apart from Degaralix. Enzalutamide stopped working. Had severe hyposensitivity reaction to docetaxel so looking at olaparib subject to gene testing. Coming off prednisalone gradually. Interested if anyone experienced similar issues with wrists and how long it lasted.

Repetitive strain injury (RSI) is caused by repetitive movements of the same body part, such as hairdressing, typing, or working on an assembly line. Other causes include:

Symptoms of RSI include:

Pain, Swelling, Tingling, Numbness, Stiffness, Weakness, and Sensitivity to cold or heat.

To help ease symptoms, you can try:

Keeping active

Taking paracetamol or anti-inflammatory painkillers like ibuprofen

Using a hot or cold pack on the affected area for up to 20 minutes every 2 to 3 hours

Resting

Compression

Elevation

To prevent further damage, you can try:

Modifying or reducing the activity that caused your injury

Taking regular breaks

Standing up and stretching frequently

Ensuring that the desk, chair, and screen are aligned in an ergonomic fashion

Avoiding bending the wrists

Mild RSI cases can usually be resolved in just a few weeks. The more severe injuries can sometimes last for months or even years when the problem is not addressed.
