My husband was diagnosed in Jan. 2022 by his Urologist for Stage 3b Highly Aggressive (label they gave it) prostate cancer, Gleason score of 8, into seminal vessicles, but no mets seen on PET Scan. Received Lupron for 18 months and Casodex 50mg was initiated immediately and continued once a day for 2 mos. Then he received 45 tx of radiation ( 5x wk for 9 wks ).
With the Lupron, he experience hot flashes and sweats, night and day, mild, but noticeable loss of muscle strength, but this didn't affect his function. Although off the Lupron, he still gets the sweats at times. He feels stronger now. He has been off any tx since Aug. 2023 and his last PSA, was the same as 6 mos. prior, which was and is .014. Pre any Tx, PSA was 10.46
I hope this info helps you. Obviously, he did not have to go on chemo, nor was it recommended by his Radiation Oncologist.

Welcome to the group. We wish your husband well. It sounds like you two are off to a good start on the roller coaster ride of life with prostate cancer. We also wish you well as you support him in the course of treatments.
I strongly recommend that you document all treatments and test results. I take notes at all doctor appointments. I use a spreadsheet program to follow PSA changes over time and different treatments, noting when treatments are halted and why, and other significant events like surgeries and severe side effects. Over the years memories may fade, but the details are in the spreadsheet.
Thank you for your reply, GAdrummer. Yes, I agree with you. And, from day 1, have written notes, reviewed and filed (old school, with paper) all records of procedures and results, dates, instructions for tx., anything and everything from all MDs, because yes, I KNOW I will forget some details. You and all others are always in my prayers.
Hi Tonyliv, and thank you for those recommendations. Yes, he is already doing all that and has cut 99% of sugar and white flour from his diet. Probably a good idea for all of us, right. My prayers continue for you and everyone else.
Hi Sally, thanks for posting. I hope your husband continues to respond well to his treatment. My husband was also diagnosed T3B with no mets on bone scan. Did he have RP? Or only ADT and radiation?
Getting more familiar with abbreviation, so forgive me, but, if you mean Radical Prostectomy, the answer is no. No surgical intervention. And thanks so much, tn, for your reply. Always in my prayers.
I asked my RO and MO exactly what words like "advanced" and "high risk" mean. They almost certainly do not mean what we think they mean in the world outside of oncology. I suggest never assuming word meanings said by oncologists.
